Solange speaks up.
The R&B songstress deleted her Twitter account, but not before posting a message about the state of the nation. Knowles’ parting tweet referenced Takiyah Thompson, a 22-year-old North Carolina Central University student who was recently arrested for her role in removing a statue of Robert E. Lee, a Civil War general of the Confederate Army.
“deleting my twitter soon, but before I dip, when we gonna pull up?” asked Solange. “what we got to do to get my new hero Takiyah Thompson free?”
Taking to Instagram, Solange shared a note through Stories. “been trying to study myself,” she wrote. “been trying to practice self preservation during this time and not give racist ugly ass fuck bois who reek of citronella my energy so that I can perform this album.”
Knowles’ posts arrive on the heels of a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia that claimed the lives of three people. In her note, Solange also denounced white supremacists and nazis before reflecting on her son Julez, who is about to start the new school year.
“how mofos supposed to have a fresh start with education, seeing this shit?” she asked. “thinking about demanding he not be required to take ‘American History’ because its deep dark rooted ugliness continues to live right now, right before our eyes.”
Solange has not been alone in her criticism of racism and white supremacists. Following the events in Charlottesville, John Legend, Killer Mike, Lady Gaga, Questlove, Common, Snoop Dogg, and Pharrell were among the many who spoke up against racism.

Today as I saw what was going on in Charlottesville,Va., I couldn't help but feel sad, angry, and like "what is going on in America?" I had just landed from London and was thinking how good it was to be home. But then I started to think it's tough when people in your home don't want to accept you and spew out hatred and negative energy towards you and people who look like you and other people who don't look like them. I heard a pundit on the news say, "this isn't America!" BUT IT IS! This has been America since it began looking down on others (Native Americans, Black people, Latino People, Jewish People). This has always been apart of the American DNA. For sure there are other aspects to America that are beautiful, positive and the reason why I felt good when I touched down on the American soil. However, these ugly parts need to be addressed. Yes I felt like snapping today myself for a second but then I thought about my purpose and who I'm here to serve and that's GOD and The people! The movement needs GOD and Spirituality especially looking in the face of evil. GOD will allow us to respond on A GODLY Level with a Higher vibration. That doesn't mean we won't defend ourselves but I do believe that doing the work is our greatest defense. We got work to do in our communities, our homes, supporting our businesses that are for the good of people and electing local and state politicians who share in this positive vision and are down for what we believe in. And if we can figure out the best way to express Love to other human beings, hate won't have a chance! GOD Bless. Love #charlottesville

The thing that gets me bout this version of "poor white trash" (that's what the master class calls u) is why pick two losers to model ya self after. The confederate states and Nazis were anti American losers of wars with America. U stupid poor wretched humans claim to be "Patriots" but champion lost loser symbols as your example of unity. Session'ist and WWII Germans that's your pick to show American pride. 😂. Stay losing losers! Stay losing.
