NOTORIOUS B.I.G. DOCUMENTARY IN DEVELOPMENT

Twenty years after the Notorious B.I.G.’s tragic and untimely death, a new documentary is in the works.

According to Variety, Submarine Entertainment and ByStorm Film are developing the film, which is tentatively titled Notorious B.I.G.: One More Chance. It will be directed by Emmett and Brendan Malloy, and crafted in connection with Biggie’s mother Voletta Wallace and the late rapper’s estate.

“It brings so much joy to my heart that my son Christopher’s music has made such an impact on the music community and his stories have positively inspired so many young men and women over the years, and still influencing the youth all over the world today,” Wallace said in a statement.

Emmett Malloy added: “The challenge of making a film about one of the most influential artists of my generation is what I live for as a filmmaker.”

Submarine has been behind a series of lauded music-based documentaries in recent years, including Nas: Time Is Illmatic and Searching for Sugarman.

One More Chance, which was announced at the Berlin Film Festival on Monday (Feb. 13), has no release date.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Biggie’s passing, which will also be commemorated by a new album from his widow, Faith Evans. Billed as a joint project with her late husband, The King & I is due May 19, on what would have been his 45th birthday.
