OM Music signee, Cabum Da Chedeshi in an hour long chat with the eTV’s The Late Nite Celebrity Show said most rappers in the Ghanaian Hip Hop circle can’t blow up if they stick to their Hip Hop lane.
The son of veteran highlife singer Alhaji K Frimpong told Giovanni;
“I can’t say Hip Hop is dead in Ghana but in a way Hip Hop is not strong like before. The Hip Hop we doing now is not like that of the past. Right now everyone is trying to do trap music. But I don’t see trap music as real Hip Hop.
You have to change the sound to do trending music if not you will go hungry because even the Hip Hop guys we know from Ghana did not blow up with the Hip Hop songs. All of them, EL did Kaalu and Obuu Mo, Sarkodie blew with Boga but even he is not finding it easy. Because the song he used to blow properly was not Hip Hop. He had to do Adonai with Castro. But all these doesn’t discourage me at all because Edem was able to blow with a Hip Hop track, he did it with Hey Ba…”
