After months of hoping, praying and waiting for the daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown to awake from her coma, Bobbi Kristina, 22, has passed away.
Entertainment Tonight reports that BK was surrounded by her family at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Georgia when she passed away on July 26. In a statement to ET, the Houston family says, “She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”
It was Jan. 31 when Bobbi Kristina was found unconscious in her bathtub eerily just weeks before the third anniversary of her mother Whitney’s death in much the same manner. She was then taken to North Fulton Hospital and put on a ventilator before being taken to Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital and put in a medically-induced coma. In June, she was moved to the hospice center.
While BK continued her slow recovery, a criminal investigation into her mysterious near-drowning began with her boyfriend Nick Gordon as the main suspect. Bobbi and Nick, who grew up together as siblings, got closer after Whitney passed away, the young couple even getting engaged. Nick was taken in and raised by Whitney when he was a teenager. Gordon checked into a rehab months after her near-drowning after an emotional breakdown on the Dr. Phil show. A few weeks ago, on July 14, Gordon was served a $10 million civil lawsuit on behalf on Bobbi Kristina by her court-appointed conservator, Bedelia Hargrove, accusing him of assault and stealing money from her estate. Per Whitney’s will, Bobbi Kristina was the sole inheritor of her estate, estimated at nearly $115 million.
Bobbi Kristina Brown was March 4, 1993 and grew up in the spotlight under the highly publicized and scrutinized relationship of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. She aspired to be a singer and actress, as Tyler Perry took her under his wing with minor roles and mentorship, especially after her mother’s death. “Let’s start this career up&&moving OUT to TO YOU ALLLL quick shall we !?!???!” she tweeted just two days before the drowning incident.
Prayers go out to the Houston and Brown families. May she rest in peace.
