Revered musician 2Baba has been honoured as a Fellow of the School of Music by the Department of Music, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
The singer was presented with the award at the department’s 1st public lecture and fellowship award ceremony on Wednesday, 20 March.
This makes him the first recipient of the noble award.
During his acceptance speech, 2Baba said he least expected the recognition at this time of his career while expressing enthusiasm to have been considered for the fellowship.
“Being the torch-bearer for the new pop movement is a role I do not take lightly. And I am honoured to have been found worthy of such noble, albeit enormous responsibility.” 2Baba stated while receiving the award.
2Baba who was also a guest speaker at the ceremony attended the event in the company of his wife Annie Idibia.
